New Resource Alert!
I recently came across an account on Facebook that I thought would be helpful for you all. The ADA Nerd is an account where everyday people send in pictures of inaccessible spaces in public as a precaution to others. People also send in their personal stories of being denied access. There's also some positive stories of accessibility done right! Check out a few posts below and be sure to follow them on Facebook!

1.The positive! "ASL wrapping paper at Target. Please buy this, and use this so that more inclusive products are made! Maybe kids will even learn sign language while unwrapping their gifts!"
I love the increase in inclusive designs of products, especially around the holidays! -Demetria

2. "POV: When you watch a complete stranger walk away with your wheelchair and try not to cry. I'll never get used to leaving my wheelchair on the jet bridge in order to get on a plane, but watching someone walk off with it up the jet bridge (because it was pouring so he took it down from inside the building instead of the stairs outside), was more painful than normal. I'm ready for airplanes to be wheelchair accessible. PS- my chair made it to my destination safe and sound. I 'heart' Delta."
I can't imagine how difficult it is to see a part of you being carried away and trust that it will return in the shape. It's definitely time for airplanes to be wheelchair accessible! -Demetria

3. "Thursday fact (sticking with a theme this week): Port-A-Potties are useless to people in wheelchairs when placed in front of a curb with no curb cut or accessible path or travel. Also a fact: I'm shaking my head in bewilderment looking at this. And that is today's 'so close but so far' ADA picture of the day. Stay tuned for more 'what were they thinking...of wait they weren't' accessibility moments from society!"
This seems like a 'no-brainer' to me! Of course the wheelchair accessible port-a-potty needs to be wheelchair accessible! But this goes to show, how often do we do things with good intentions but the follow through isn't great? -Demetria
