Table of Diversity- Learn, Connect, Grow!

2024 Personal Goal Setting:

Each year, I choose a different Diversity Element to go on a journey of learning and unlearning. Over the years, I've chosen different religions, socioeconomic levels, generations, races, gender identities, and so.

I create goals to learn more about that Diversity Element's culture, background, and traditions. I take time to reflect on my experiences with this group and unlearn any harmful stereotypes that may have informed my interactions. I prioritize support of these groups by frequenting their cultural centers, businesses, and events. I buy books by and about this group and explore other forms of media. I examine my network to determine if my circle includes people from this background and how I can build even better relationships.

Table of Diversity Weekly Preview: One of Our Favorite Books!

In 2020, I was pregnant with my first kid and the world was shut down because of the pandemic. Diversity Calendar Tips

A new year means a new calendar of events to plan and implement as we recognize and celebrate various people, groups, and histories. Let's start a thread of tips, best practices, things that you do to ensure success.

I'll start! I incorporate fun into my diversity calendar. Of course, I prioritize the serious observances, holidays, and recognitions but I also sprinkle in some fun! For example, I love to read so any book related observance (like National Book Lovers Day- August 9th) makes it into my diversity calendar. It also gives me another excuse to buy more books! I also love the food related 'holidays' like National Ice Cream Day (3rd Sunday in July) or National Cookie Day (December 4th).
